The Red Pages: The Guys' Hair

In the past the band's hair colors and styles changed rather frequently so this page helped fans keep track of what was on their heads. In recent years, however, their hair has stabilized somewhat so this page is now here mainly for archive purposes. Should any of them do anything really radical or strange with their hair you can look for an update here, but for now, just enjoy reading this for the hairy history aspect.

In the beginning it was Zhenya, Igor, Oleg, and Andre (and the wigs.). This was the Grooving to the Moscow Beat era.

(Pic on the right. From left to right, Oleg, Igor, Zhenya, Avi.) Then Avi joined the band, Oleg went fire engine red, and Zhenya went blond, and Surfing in Siberia was born.

(Pic on the left. From left to right: Oleg, Avi, Igor, Zhenya) Later Zhenya let his hair go back to light brown, and Oleg stayed red. Then Igor and Avi went blond, Oleg's hair was briefly green then went back to red, Avi put in some red highlights, Zhenya went blond again, and then...who knows? I sure don't!

"Do you like the new hairdos?"

My job just got harder, keeping track of Dennis Rodman's hair color would be easier than this...

Igor's hair is now "Pimpin' Purple."
Avi's hair has "Rockstar Red" highlights. (Which don't show up in any of the pix we have, dammit! -Ed.)
Oleg's hair is an even brighter red than usual
and Zhenya's hair...well it varies. It seems to very blond and poofy, streaked with red, maybe a little green, and who knows what else.

Update: 9/1/00

The previous dye jobs seem to be fading. No longer does Igor have to fear arrest by the fashion police whenever he goes out in public with his hair (formerly "Pimpin' Purple") and a red shirt. Zhenya's hair is blond again, and Oleg and Avi have their normal (if fire-engine-red hair can be classified as normal) hairdos.

Igor's got a new hair style. Be afraid. Be very afraid. It's ... uh... hard to describe. Basically, most of his hair is cut really short, but there's a bunch left in front, and he styles it so it looks kinda like a mini-pompadour. Yeah. Oh, heck, just click on the picture already! (it's kinda dark, so you might have to boost your monitor's brighness or contrast)
The other guys look pretty much as usual, though.

Update: 4/01

Well, the guys returned from their break with more low-key hair. Oleg's gone (sacrilege!) blond, and Igor and Z are back to normal.

Quick update for the concerned - Oleg's hair is back to red again.

Update: Jan 2003: since the guys aren't that big on weirding us out with funky hair, this page is no longer being updated and is only here for archive purposes until they go back to doing odd things with their hair.

Update: June 2003: Oleg's hair is losing it's red, I think, and has gone towards pink.
Igor's hair is two-tone: the top is fluffy-wavy blonde while the underside seems to be his standard brunette hair. (thanks to Renee for the update!)

Update: June 2007: Oleg's hair is more often than not his dark-blonde-light-brown natural color nowadays.
Igor's hair is rich black/brunette and has been for some time.
Adam's hair is his natural boyish brown but now has some red chunks in it. (Go, Adam!)
Elena's hair is a lovely shade of strawberry blonde, leaning more toward red. Sometimes for shows she adds long wavy hair extensions that look great.
Beth's hair is long and blonde. Sometimes it's curly/wavy, sometimes it's straight. (Update by Kayt)
