Fan of the Month!
Interviewed by Kayt

To round out and put an end to the Fan of the Month feature for the year 2007, we venture once more into esteemed Mundwiler territory. This month longtime fan Chris Mundwiler's eldest boy, Peter (a.k.a. GrixCLOCKiGar II), is the latest Fan of the Month. Red Elvises fans have been described throughout the galaxy as nice, cool, crazy, lovable (okay, I threw in that last one... we are, aren't we? Warm, red, fuzzy and lovable... okay, that makes us sound like red smurfs, hmm...), but Pete brings a whole new dimension to the table. Read on and you'll see...it's all good fun. A round of applause, please, for our December Fan of the Month!

Peter, King of the Wild December Fan of the Month

For the record, what is your name?
GrixCLOCKiGar II, Warrior Poet of the Northern Waste.

Where were you born, and where did you grow up?
I was born in a small fishing camp on the banks of the mighty Deschutes.

What were your main interests, entertainment and otherwise, growing up? Any obsessions you don't mind people knowing about?
Chopping wood, subsisting on the meager bounty of an unforgiving landscape, amateur cryptozoology.

Tell us about your musical endeavors and any musical instruments you play…
My girlfriend, Kelly, and I are currently performing in a medieval whalesong band called 'Narwhal.' She sings backing vocals and I play a traditional scandinavian shepherding horn called a Lur. Unfortunately we're between lead singers right now. (If you're reading this and can do a convincing Humpback whale, please call me!)

What accomplishments are you most proud of at this point in your life?
My cat, Batman.

What are your favorite movies?
It's a tie between Harry and the Hendersons and Short Circuit II, both of which I can't recommend enough. The latter features a chase scene between a robot and a speedboat, set to a Bonnie Tyler song if that's any indication.

Do you have any favorite books?
Don Quixote

What music are you into, in addition to Red Elvises?
I'm listening to a lot of British acid folk lately: Steeleye Span, early Marc Bolan, etc. As far as live music goes, I saw this incredible show a couple of weeks ago by a Finnish band called 'Circle'. They kept flipping back and forth between lumbering psychedelia and crazy-ass, operatic power-metal. Their singer was clearly channeling Rob Halford (in Finnish), and this guy next to me in the audience was punching himself in the face he was so happy.

When, where, how, etc. did you first hear and experience Red Elvises?
My friend Keith found this promotional cassette single for the Six-String Samurai soundtrack that had "Boogie on the Beach" (still my favorite Red Elvises song) on one side and "Love Pipe" on the other. Later that month we went to see a couple of sets at an outdoor festival in Seattle and that was the first time I met the band. Also, I just remembered I recently saw this spot that their old band Limpopo did for an early nineties Kit Kat commercial and I instantly recognized it. So I guess you could say that's the first time that I saw them.

About how many times have you seen them?
247

What is it about Red Elvises that draws you to them, that you like the most?
Oleg's bulging red trousers.

What's the farthest you've traveled to see them? And do you have a good story around that?
I've flown from Washington State to Florida and from New York to Los Angeles for concerts. Once, after seeing back to back shows in Florida with my dad, I ended up changing my flight plans the night I was supposed to fly back to Seattle and we followed the band on a long weekend down to the keys, ending in an amazing show at the Green Parrot in Key West. It was a great trip and the band kept getting better with each show.

Which show is your favorite of the RE shows you've seen?
There was this Halloween show at a hotel lounge in Daytona a couple of years back. I don't really remember any of it but I'm pretty sure it was my favorite.

Any other standout, all time great Red Elvises memories so far?
The vast majority of my living relatives came out for a concert in LA this last March. When I say came out, I mean they flew in from literally every corner of the country. We were all there for my dad's 60th birthday, which was a hell of a party.

What are your favorite Red Elvises songs?
"Boogie on the Beach" because of the crazy-ass energy.

What would you like to see them do in the future? Any ideas? Anything you’d like to say to the band?
Like most of the fans, I'm eagerly awaiting their forthcoming collaboration with Dio

All three Mundwiler boys
Peter with his brothers, whom he turned on to Red Elvises.

Thank you very much, Peter, your interview was...well, different! And cool, yes, verry nice. Good job!! May you have many more years of crazy ass Red Elvises energy.
