Greetings, Red Elvises Fans!
It's July, in the middle of the hot summer, and there have been some changes on the Red Pages staff. After many years of fearless Editing of this Fanzine, Ealasaid has stepped down and the reins have been handed over to me. This change in command was authorized by Oleg and Igor and I very much appreciate their support and encouragement. Ealasaid's name and those of other former staff members have been placed into the newly created Red Pages Hall of Fame on the Credits page and I thank them all heartily for all their work over the years.
Now it is a new day for The Red Pages and I plan to bring enhancements and other fun stuff to it each month and provide a place for Red Elvises fans to come and hang out, enjoy, have a beer or a soft drink and see what's going on in the world of Red Elvises fandom. As always, your input is encouraged and welcomed! This is still a fanzine by and for the fans, so contribute early and often. Have you been to a show recently? Have something to say about it or did you maybe take some pictures you'd like other fans to see? We're here for you! The band members read The Red Pages too, so be assured they will see and appreciate your contributions!
I hope you'll all join me in welcoming longtime fan Lori to the Red Pages staff as our new Assistant Editor. She lives in sunny South Florida and has plenty of technical skills as well as a background in PR and art, so she is a welcome addition. Plus, she loves Red Elvises and you can't go wrong with that. So welcome to the Red Pages staff, Lori!
This month we have a ton of photos and I want to thank Unsteady Freddie who took pictures at the Allentown and New York shows and submitted them, and also Mike Shapiro who took pictures for me with my camera in Raleigh. We also have a bunch from shows along the East Coast I was able to get to as well as some lengthy write ups of my travels that I hope will be somewhat entertaining. I really enjoyed all the shows I saw in June while traveling around seeing and helping the band. As they say, I had a wonderful time, wish you all could've been there! The San Francisco photos are from a CD I found in one of the merchandise boxes while on the road. I asked Oleg about it and he let me take it home. I have since learned that they were taken by Wili Santos at Cafe du Nord in San Francisco on April 28, 2007. Thanks, Wili, for writing and letting me know you took these very cool photos!
Our Fan of the Month is from Florida this time and recently enjoyed seeing Red Elvises at the Bank & Blues Club in Daytona Beach. That was a great show! Another great show was attended by a young fan who had a fun experience getting photographed with her favorite band, so that story is here for your reading enjoyment as well.
My time was somewhat short in June to create new features thanks to all my traveling but in months to come I'm hoping you'll want to visit more often, because we will have some new and exciting stuff including, when possible, a "Q&A On the Road" - questions put to band members about things fans want to know! Where do they like to eat on the road? Who would they most love to jam with? If any of you have ideas for questions like this, or even a bunch of questions for a mini-interview, feel free to send them in and we may use them in a future issue. There will be other enhancements too, so make sure you visit us each month.
And now this month's "teaser..." I will be going to Southern California for the two shows there in July, so next month I'll have a lot of new photos and will write about those two shows as well. So be sure to come back for that!
