Live at Fitzgerald's 2006
October 5, 2006

It has been just over a year since the last time I saw the Red Elvises. I am sorry to admit that my enthusiasm was not what it should have been. I have been seeing them at least four times a year and some years up to eight times a year, this is also the 9th anniversary of the first time I ever saw the Red Elvises. That being said I arrived an hour and a half before the posted start time hoping to get a chance to talk to the guys before the show and hopefully get my enthusiasm kick started.

When I pulled up in front of Fitzgerald’s Oleg was backing the van in to unload. It was nice to meet up with old friends again. After the van was unloaded and we were all inside Igor told me about the new DVD that they had just gotten that day. I spent some time talking to Oleg and Adam while they were eating dinner and was starting to feel that old excitement again.

Just before showtime my boss Bill walked in (only the second time I had a non family member come to a show). I have to say Elena brings something very different to the stage than either Zhenya or Schramm. I don’t remember all the songs that were played or the order but I do know that there were a few new numbers and quite a few old favorites, including “Strip Joint is Closed” which is Bill’s girlfriend Tammy’s favorite.

By the end of the night and 2 encores I am now fully re-energized and looking forward again to the next time I can see the Red Elvises perform. If like me you haven’t seen the Red Elvises in quite a long while do yourself a favor and see a show when they are in your neighborhood.
