Sneak Preview of the Fall Tour
By Kayt

The Fall 2006 band lineup Red Elvises are doing a major cross-country tour this Fall, for anyone who doesn't already know. Many of us, I'm sure, are by now excited half out of our minds at the prospect of seeing Red Elvises in or near our towns and I've heard there are some new songs! Some of us may be planning road trips (you know I am!). Yes, indeedy, the Tour Dates page of the band's website is some very enticing reading now, so if you haven't already memorized the pertinent data, go there now and have a look at this little analysis to see if they'll be near you. We'll wait here. Just hurry back.

Okay, back now? Good!

The big Fall tour kicked off with a home venue show at Rusty's Surf Ranch on the Santa Monica Pier on Friday, September 22nd. The next day they loaded up the big red van and motored off to sunny Tucson, Arizona and other locales further east... across the Southwest they've played in Phoenix, Arizona and then on into New Mexico with stops in Albuquerque, Santa Fe and Los Alamos. Then they headed up to Denver, hit Lincoln, Nebraska (I'm sure it'll never be the same again!) and went to Kansas City...Kansas City here I come...Missouri. Pardon me, I got carried away into song there...

If you're reading this within the first three days of this, the October issue, of this fanzine, they are in Green Bay, Wisconsin. From there they go to Lafayette, Indiana and then Berwyn, Illinois (a suburb of Chicago), then back to Wisconsin (a state so nice they had to go there twice?) to play in Milwaukee and Madison. From there they make their way into Michigan for dates in Traverse City, Grand Rapids and Hamtramck and then go on into Ohio for one night only in Cleveland...just think of it, Oleg will finally get to say his famous line "Hello Cleveland!" and it'll be true!

The band lineup this Fall will be a little different. We have been used to four, sometimes five or six, and for a couple of years three, guys onstage comprising the band we love and know as Red Elvises. Anyone who saw some of the shows on their northwest tour this past Summer or at Musikfest or was at any of the first few shows of this tour has seen the first ever female to play with Red Elvises, Elena Shemankova, keyboard and accordion player extraordinaire! There are no known "official" photos yet of this lineup so I, with the help of Photoshop, some good instructions found online (webmonkey.com is a fabulous resource!) and a very nice photo of the three guys taken by Alex Moy (thanks, Alex!), combined said photo with a photo of Elena and came up with what you see above and farther below. And as for this photo on the right, well, Red Elvises are better than ice cream! Right? Right! Thanks to Oleg for this photo. The guys enjoy ice cream in Europe

Russian Rokenrol Revolution They then head further east and stop in Pennsylvania at Pittsburgh and Allentown. Mid-October finds them making their way north... going up to Massachusetts for a show in Allston, which I understand is near Boston. Cheers! Then they go back down to New York... No, not Madison Square Garden just yet but gracing a slightly smaller venue, The Knitting Factory. Then it's on to Arlington, Virgina and then descending deeper into the Deep South to come play for the first time in Charlotte, North Carolina! Which, incidentally, is extremely near where I'm currently living at the moment. I actually work in Charlotte about five minutes or less from the venue! I drove past it the other day and saw Red Elvises posters up in both sides of their outside display cases, so exciting! Then they travel slightly northward again to play Raleigh, North Carolina before heading east and south once more and wrapping up the Carolinas area with a show at the Handlebar, where they've played before, in Greenville, South Carolina. Not to be confused with Greenville, North Carolina, which is
many miles away. For thoseCarolinas-area dates they'll have a silver Toyota Rav4 with an "I heart Red Elvises" license plate holder (and yours truly driving it) tagging along behind the van! So you'll have a full report of that road trip in November. After that it's Florida time again!

The beginning of the third week in October finds Our Favorite Band in Gainesville, Florida. If that wasn't approximately seven hours from my home on a Sunday night I'd love to go to that one too...but I have to sleep sometime. And yes, I admit I thought about it...but my few functioning responsible brain cells said noooo. But any of you Floridians in the area, go and enjoy! Next is three glorious nights at the Green Parrot in the Florida Keys, followed by an October 27th, close enough for rokenrol, Halloween bash show in Daytona Beach, brought to you by wonderful Red Elvises devotee Chris Mundwiler, who is organizing the whole thing and deserves a big round of applause! It's a costumed affair and I plan to be at that one too (I'm not telling you my costume yet!) so full coverage next month will be right here. The following night we'll all be at Skipper's Smokehouse in Tampa for another joyous show at that fine venue, no costumes this time. Then the guys go back down south to Marathon and play a private party in St. Augustine the night after that. They will remain in Florida a few days longer but that goes into November so I'll talk about that next month. Fall 2006 Lineup

So there you have it, a virtual roadmap of where the band is going this Fall. Let's show them we really appreciate all their hard work, great shows, stage gyrations (you rock, Igor!), tiring travel and endless nights in places like this:

Uh...right...(just an example...Red Elvises stay at varying levels of establishments, of course, it's all good). So, comrades, it's time to make your plans, gas up your vehicles (remember, gas is cheaper nowadays, just in time!) and hit the road to go see Red Elvises! Whether your trip is two blocks or two hundred (or more?) miles, you know you'll have a fantastic, incredible GOOD TIME!

Any of you who see the band perform live this Fall, please remember The Red Pages! Send in your photos and write ups of the shows so other fans can enjoy your experiences too! Share by sending them here. I'm sure a lot of you will take kick ass pictures and have great stories to tell!
