For the record, what is your name? "The Package," a.k.a. Jonathan Phillips Where were you born, and where did you grow up? Asheboro, North Carolina |
Class clown in school, loved comedies, golf, music, performing stand-up and making folks pee on themselves when they laugh!
Tell us about your musical endeavors and any musical instruments you play…
I was a lead singer in a blues band for a number of years, alas, too much excess has nearly ruined my voice. I do play one hell of a stereo though.
What accomplishments are you most proud of at this point in your life?
I personally met nearly all of my childhood heroes/role models, the Red Sox actually won the World Series, now if I could just smoke a joint with Willie, life would be complete.
What are your favorite movies?
“Snatch,” “Pulp Fiction,” “Super Troopers,” “Triumph the Insult Comic Dog,” “Lord of the Rings,” “Godfather,” “My Cousin Vinny,” “Monty Python & The Holy Grail,” “Young Frankenstein,” “Blazing Saddles,” “O' Brother Where Art Thou,” “The Deerhunter” and anything with The Three Stooges.

What music are you into, in addition to Red Elvises?
Southern Culture on the Skids, Big Smith, Hayseed Dixie, The Alligators, B.B. King, Johnny Adams, The Meat Purveyors
When, where, how, etc. did you first hear and experience Red Elvises?
A few years back, I was drinking in this little "karaoke" bar, which by the way is Japanese for "can't sing shit!" and between the squalls, I heard this really cool tune, I asked the DJ who he was playing, it was "Cha-Cha-Cha" by The Red Elvises, I was hooked!
About how many times have you seen them?
Only one dang time, but it was like prom night, truly magical, only I didn't get the gratuitous sex like in high school.
What is it about Red Elvises that draws you to them, that you like the most?
They are a really tight band, and their stage presence is second to none, plus, they drink loads of beer while playing, now who wouldn't want that?
What’s the farthest you’ve traveled to see them? And do you have a good story around that?
As they've only been here in North Carolina one time since I became aware, it was probably around 80 miles.
Which show is your favorite of the Red Elvises shows you've seen?
I reckon that would have to be the only one I've ever seen! The show in Raleigh at The Pour House really kicked butt!
What are your favorite Red Elvises songs?
“Cha-Cha-Cha,” “Stewardess in Red,” “Scorchi Chorniye,” “Sad Cowboy Song,” “200 lbs. Of Pure Love,” “Love Rocket,” “Juliet,” “Party Like a Rock Star” just too many to name... It would be a much shorter list to name the ones I didn't like.
What would you like to see them do in the future? Any ideas? Anything you’d like to say to the band?
Come to the East Coast more often.

For those of you who have seen 'em live, you'll know what I'm talking about, but if you've never had the experience, it's worth it, I promise, and above all, remember, Life is like a shit sandwich, the more bread ya got, the less shit ya have to eat!
