Fan of the Month!
Interviewed by Kayt

For May we have a really cool dude who has seen the band in Florida but now lives just outside the U.S. He is into computers and is the epitome of "cool." He is also a very loyal fan and even comes to Red Chat whenever he can, which is where I "met" him. Please join me, round of applause, please, in welcoming our May Fan of the Month, Post!

Post poses for you. For the record, what is your name?
My name is Post.

Where were you born, and where did you grow up?
Born in Washington D.C. I grew up all over and lived in southern Maryland and Daytona Beach, Florida as a child. I spent my formative years in Boston, Massachusetts and most of New England. Now I just moved to Costa Rica, Central America.
What were your main interests, entertainment and otherwise, growing up?
Computers, archaeology, diving, recovering underwater artifacts, collecting shot glasses all over the world, obsessions, hmm.....probably too many to list!

Tell us about your musical endeavors and any musical instruments you play…
No musical instruments, tried piano and drums once. I leave music to the professionals, like The Red Elvises!!!

What accomplishments are you most proud of at this point in your life?
Becoming divemaster and assisting people in learning scuba.

What are your favorite movies?
Most action/adventure, good drama, sci-fi.

Do you have any favorite books?
Anything by Clive Cussler, Robin Cook, Patricia Cornwell

What music are you into, in addition to Red Elvises?
Most SKA, reggae, top-40, alternative

When, where, how, etc. did you first hear and experience Red Elvises?
About five years ago a friend of mine brought over this movie. He said I HAD to watch it. It was right up my alley. It was called “Six-String Samurai.” I was so impressed with the soundtrack. A couple of years later, I had to pick up my then girlfriend from work right near Skipper’s. [Interviewer’s Note: That would, of course, be the legendary Skipper’s Smokehouse in Tampa, Florida to which our Fan of the Month refers!]. I thought I saw the words "Red Elvises" and had to go investigate. I found they were playing there and have been a loyal fan since!!!!

About how many times have you seen them?
About six times now. Gotta time my trips back to the States when they are in town.

What is it about Red Elvises that draws you to them, that you like the most?
I just love the unique "Russian rockabilly" style they have. There's nothing else like it!

What’s the farthest you’ve traveled to see them? And do you have a good story around that?
Well, soon, I will have to travel THOUSANDS of miles to see them....Costa Rica to Miami, Miami to Tampa and Tampa to Daytona!

Which show is your favorite of the Red Elvises shows you've seen?
They are ALL my favorite shows. My friends and I make it an event, almost like a family holiday.

Any other standout, all time great memories of shows you’ve seen so far?
I guess the one time they played in Clearwater. It was blocks from my house, a club that served full meals, and we got the package deal. I wish that place was still around and we could do that every month!

What are your favorite Red Elvises songs?
If you ask any of my friends what Post's favorite song is, they would all agree "Closet Disco Dancer." “Rocket Man” is my second choice.

What would you like to see them do in the future? Any ideas? Anything you’d like to say to the band?
I'd LOVE to see them in more cameos. I have the “Fastlane” episode they were in. I'd love to see them in more movies. I'd love for them to do more soundtracks for movies. But most of all I would love for them to just keep being " My Favorite Band."

Okay, last question… Do you have anything you’d especially like to say to all the fans?
Guys and gals, fan support is paramount for any band and we have to be the best fan base imaginable. If you go to ANY Red Elvises show, we are the most eclectic group anyone could put together. There is no specific set or "type" and it works perfectly that way!

Thank you, Post, for being Fan of the Month! In my opinion, Red Elvises DO have the best fan base imaginable; their fans really are the best! You guys just keep on doing what you do, supporting Our Favorite Band!! Oh, and stop on in and chat with us on Tuesday nights when any of you can, that wouldn't hurt either, how 'bout it?!

Wondering how YOU can become a future Fan of the Month? It's very easy! Just write to: redelvisesfotm@yahoo.com to nominate yourself or a friend. And when you see the band perform live please remember The Red Pages -- send in your photos and write ups of the shows so other fans can enjoy your experiences too!
