Live From Berwyn
By Willie

The Fall Tour of 2003 is upon us so it’s time to put on some RED and have some fun. On the 3rd of October The Red Elvises returned to Fitzgerald’s in Berwyn and we all had a good time. I arrived early (imagine that) and helped the guys load in. I also got to meet Sandra D and her hubby Paul before the show, they had come in from Iowa for the show.

Thanks to the Cubs the show was delayed until the game ended, but they finally started up about 10:30. With the exception of “Juliet” the first set was identical to the first set they played in April (that set can be found in the Audio section of the website in MP3 format). I had just received a new camcorder that day and recorded the opening number “I’m Not That Kind Of Guy” and “Blue Moon” in the second set to test it out. It took a couple of songs to get the crowd onto the dance floor but soon the place was jumping.

During the set break Sandra and Paul sold merchandise while the guys mingled in the crowd, posed for pictures and signed stuff for the fans. The second set featured two new songs as well as some old favorites. “My Darling Lorraine” included a verse in Russian. They closed the night with a two-song encore “My Love is Killing Me” and “Juliet.” I guess the best way to put it is that everyone had a great time and we are all waiting for the Spring Tour to get a fresh helping of Red Elvises.
