Fan of the Month!
Interviewed by Kayt

July's interview takes us to America's Heartland to catch up with a fun-loving girl who first experienced the wonder that is Red Elvises the same night I did...we were both hooked right away! Here's a photo of her with Avi. It's several years old but my favorite photo of her...

Red Pages: For the record, what is your name?
AP: Alma Pedroza

RP: Where were you born, and where did you grow up?
AP: Born and raised in Chicago, Illinois.

RP: What were your main interests, entertainment and otherwise, growing up? Any obsessions you don’t mind people knowing about?
AP: Probably listening to music... (till there were videos!!!) I have an almost life-long obsession to go to London.

RP: Tell us about your musical endeavors and any musical instruments you play.
AP: I play a mean recorder which, however, has been retired. I was making too many people jealous with my talent! (lol)

RP: What accomplishments are you most proud of at this point in your life?
AP: Buying my own home which has almost doubled in value in a very short amount of time!

RP: What are your favorite movies?
AP: Goodfellas, Breakfast Club, Sixteen Candles, Pulp Fiction and Steel Magnolias

RP: Do you have any favorite books?
AP: Yeah, the Pottery Barn and Ikea catalogs!

RP: What music are you into, in addition to Red Elvises?
AP: Santana, Bon Jovi, Mellencamp, Boy George/Culture Club, Linkin Park, Evanessence and more, lots more. I just can't think of them right now.

RP: When, where and how did you first hear and experience Red Elvises?
AP: It was a fluke, really. I had gone out to visit Kayt in L.A. and that was the weekend of weekends. We saw them 3 times in 4 nights (right, Kayt?)...

RP (Kayt): That's right!

AP: The Martini Lounge?

RP (Kayt): Yep, right again!

AP: ...in West Hollywood on Halloween night and one more place of which I cannot recall the name.

RP (Kayt): Um, that would be the infamous Rusty's Surf Ranch...

AP: Needless, to say we were hooked!

RP (Kayt): You can say that again!

RP: About how many times have you seen them?
AP: Seeing how I don't live in LA I have to wait til they come to me (and they always do... lol), so I'm going to have to guess no more than 12 times and thats including L.A.

RP: What is it about Red Elvises that draws you to them, that you like the most?
AP: Obviously the music is so much fun. But I think it has to do with the personality of the band and each member. I love the fact that they have fun with the music, the crowd and most of all themselves. I must say that admire how Igor and Oleg have managed to overcome and adapt to the changes that have occurred. I have not been disappointed once despite all the changes!

RP: What’s the furthest you’ve traveled to see them (aside from that first time, when you didn't actually travel to see them, and the other time you came to L.A. and saw them at Rusty's - we can give another part of the country a chance!)? And do you have a good story around that?
AP: Oh my God!!! I drove ALL the way to Milwaukee once!!! Whew! Actually it was quite dramatic. I wasn't going because I had no one to go with me, then a friend of mine came through at the last minute. They were playing at Summerfest and I don't remember what time they were scheduled to go on but there we were in rush hour traffic trying to get from Chicago to Milwaukee. We got lost because we didn't quite have the directions to get there. So when we finally found everything and parked, we were blessed with not having to go searching for their stage. They were relatively close to the entrance and when we got to it THEY were not on the stage!!!! My heart sank and I thought we missed them. Turns out that the Polka band that was up there was running late!!!! After the show they were talking to fans, getting beer (it's Milwaukee!) and walking around checking out the grounds. My friend and I hung around and talked to them a little bit, but the funniest part of that was when the fireworks started. Oleg came by us and pointed up to the fireworks and said, "They look like giant sperm!" LOL! Now, THAT was the highlight!!!!

RP: Any other standout, all time great memories of shows you’ve seen so far?
AP: Wow, that's hard to answer. Each has been great!

RP: What are your favorite Red Elvises songs?
AP: Your Love is Killing Me, Belly Dance, Romeo and Juliet.

RP: What would you like to see them do in the future? Any ideas? Anything you'd like to say to the band?
AP: Hmmmm... maybe get rid of that bubble machine!?!? LOL! I like it but damn, it gets messy!

RP: Okay, last question…Do you have anything you’d especially like to say to all the fans?
AP: Rock on RE fans, Rock on!!!
