Red Elvises at Redondo Beach Pier

After the Sawdust Festival on a fine Saturday afternoon, it's always nice to drive north to entertaining Redondo Beach to see Red Elvises play on the pier. Ocean waves, breaded shrimp to eat that looks like it was flattened with a sledgehammer, cooler temperatures than one would expect for So Cal in July and glorious Red Elvises music, with room for dancing – an unbeatable combination! The show began around 6:30pm as the sun was setting over the waves and continued as clouds rolled in and the sky grew darker, driving quite a few people into a dancing frenzy near the stage. This was another show attended by young and the more seasoned young-at-heart alike and…everyone all together now….say it with me…how was it? KICK ASS, that's right! Very good!
The crowd enjoyed two fine sets of Red Elvises music and another live rock ‘n roll version of "Colors of Rainbow," as well as other delicious songs from "Shake Your Pelvis." No costumed belly dancers this time, but we all shook our bellies and whatever else, to that song and plenty of others. It was a totally fun show, enjoyed by probably at least a hundred people if not more…crowd estimation has never been my talent but there were a lot of people there, believe me. We didn't even mind when darkness set in because we were happy in the Red (Elvises) glow. Okay, if you want poetry you'll have to go elsewhere! Or just go see these guys play anywhere near a beach and you'll be happy….for that matter, go see them play anywhere!
