"Mike, Lu, and Og"

I recently checked out a cartoon that the Red Elvises were supposedly doing the music for titled "Mike, Lu, and Og." I was somewhat surprised when I turned on the TV to Cartoon Network and saw an ad for the show "Some people watch 'Mike, Lu, and Og' for the music (cue cartoon characters to run around the screen and start singing way out of tune)...but not too many..."

The show's theme started with a very familiar tounge roll (sounded like Oleg to me) and followed with somebody singing some interesting lyrics "...ain't not burger stand, ain't no disco band, on the island where nobody goes..." *No disco?* I thought. Sounds like an instersting vacation spot, but what would the Red Elvises be doing associating with a place like that?

Mike, Lu, and Og is a children's cartoon about a young red-headed girl from New York City named Mike. In search of adventure, she becomes an exchange student where there "ain't no cars, ain't no phones, ain't no parking zones, on the island where nobody goes." Lu and Og are her friends, noseringed natives of the island. The show is definately geared towards a young age group, not at all like some other cartoons such as Animaniacs which sometimes contain many jokes that only more mature audiences would catch.

The show's music was peppered with an interesting combination of xylophone, bongos, string bass, and all sorts of interesting instruments. The music credits confirmed that this was indeed the work of the Red Elvises. "score by Vladimir Horunzhy songs composed by Igor Yuzov and Oleg Bernov lyrics by Igor Yuzov and Charled Swenson (who is also executive producer) songs performed by The Red Elvises"

"Mike, Lu, and Og" appears on Cartoon Network at 8PM Fridays and 9AM Saturdays.
